一筋光信じる・暗闇に怯える

Writings and notes about special projects on which I am currently working. Most of these projects involve music in some way, especially the music of Latin America, USA, Russia and Japan.

今年のプロジェクトについて考えを書いておいた日記です。 ほとんどの書き留めるものはアメリカの中心地と北アメリカとロシアと日本から音楽があるよ。

You’re easy breezy and…

I’ve got a new microphone! I don’t need you anymore :)

I haven’t found a fantastic use for tumblr yet, so I’m gonna write notes about my song recording! It will take forever. Probably will not be done until after Christmas…

Today I began recording cover songs of Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, Mika Nakashima and L’Arc~en~Ciel. As I progress with my recordings I gain further control of my voice. I’ve chosen to begin with, of course, Ayumi Hamasaki. I must make my voice more melancholic!

Tracklist:

6. SURREAL *needs slight re-recording

13. Endless sorrow

14. Free & Easy

15. HANABI

16. Voyage

20. HANABI ~Episode II~

21. No way to say

22. forgiveness **needs to be softer/severe re-recording

23. Memorial address (acapella)

As you can see, these titles and the numbering are all really fucked up. That’s because I originally began with more than 20 songs, but I finished picking only nine of those to be included in the final product. Now this is where I’m excited as hell! In the end, I decided to center this tracklist around the song Memorial address, which is the one without which I would’ve never discovered the powerful, melancholic genius of Ayumi Hamasaki.

Ayumi Hamasaki circa 2003

After the final product is complete, I think this calls for a Part II of Ayumi Hamasaki? Or perhaps by then I’ll have decided to move onto someone else. The NANA-centered grandiose rock music perfectly demonstrated by Mika Nakashima in the role of Nana Osaki and Olivia Lufkin as the singing voice of Reira are definitely interesting to me at this point in time. While Anna Tsuchiya and Yuna Ito made their respectable efforts at achieving the perfectly-tailored images of Nana and Reira, their portrayals were extraordinarily outshined by the magic in the voices of Mika and Olivia. So, while I think I might have to hold off a little bit longer for Utada Hikaru and the non-NANA related Mika Nakashima, these two acts of passionate rock music will be on my mind.
